Core Workout with Balance ball/Exercise ball

Abs exercise with ball

Here I’m lifting a balance ball/exercise ball with my legs and transferring it to my arms. After this, I’ll put the ball on the ground behind my head with my arms as my legs slowly drop to the ground. Repeating to build core strength in my abs again. This would be a great addition to any workout including a martial arts core workout.

Last June I was unable to do this exercise because my core strength and stability were lacking. Now I’m able to do 10 reps at a time in groups of 3. My core muscles engage with this and strengthen through my back. Knowing how many you can do of each exercise helps you determine a baseline core strength assessment. Note that my back and neck remain on the floor so I don’t throw the vertebrae out of place again as I did with regular sit-ups.

This exercise can be done without a balance ball, too, for a core strength home workout with no equipment. But it’s more fun and what I call a “body teaser” to use one.
